VinUni Smart Green Transformation Center (GREEN-X) continues to expand its international collaboration network through a working session with the Energy Studies Institute (ESI) at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
As part of the visit, Assoc. Prof. Thuc-Anh Thi Phan, Executive Director of GREEN-X, engaged in in-depth discussions with ESI researchers on potential areas of collaboration in energy transition. The discussions focused on two key areas: energy policy and energy technology innovation.
In the area of energy policy, GREEN-X and ESI explored opportunities to conduct evidence-based research that can support the development of policy frameworks for a sustainable, equitable, and inclusive energy transition. In the area of energy technology innovation, both sides discussed research directions to promote the development and deployment of technological solutions for low-emission energy systems.

A key highlight of the working session was the shared view that energy transition is no longer solely a technological challenge, but a broader process of system transformation. This requires close alignment between policy design, technological innovation, and practical implementation. Such an approach is particularly relevant in the context of Southeast Asia, where countries must balance energy security, green growth, and emission reduction commitments.
The two sides also discussed several potential directions for future collaboration, including joint research on decarbonization pathways in Southeast Asia, comparative analysis of policy effectiveness across emerging economies, and the development of data analytics tools and AI models to support energy planning and decision-making.
Beyond research collaboration, the working session also opened up opportunities for training and capacity-building programs, helping strengthen the connection between academia, policymakers, and the business community in the region.

The working session between GREEN-X and ESI marks an important step toward building a regional knowledge network on energy transition, contributing to the shared goal of shaping a sustainable, resilient, and net-zero future for Southeast Asia.
